Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes
Our continued efforts to support, encourage and educate our area youth have resulted in a collaboration with Junior Achievement supporting their implementation of financial literacy programs in schools across Grand Rapids.
Junior Achievement programs use hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with business and educators, Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential.
By participating in financial literacy programs, Junior Achievement helps students understand critical economic and personal financial planning. In addition, students will understand how to select a career pathway that they will find rewarding and fulfilling for a successful future. Students will understand the financial impact of higher education, and how to live within their means through budgeting, savings, and investments. They will also learn how the global economy works, how to use credit wisely and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.
Junior Achievement receives an annual endowment from the Economic Club of Grand Rapids to provide financial support to offer these programs in Grand Rapids area schools. Our goal is to grow this endowment so more students and schools can participate. As all Junior Achievement programs are led by a community volunteer, Club members interested in volunteering can contact Bill Coderre, JA President at (616) 575-9080 ext. 2222 or visit: JA website.
The club also recognizes Economic Club speakers with a JA student sponsorship in their name of a local JA student.
